Dominique skirt

After seeing the sample of Tilly and the Buttons 'Dominique skirt' at the Olympia knitting and stitching show this year, I bought the pattern (as well as the 'Fifi pyjamas') and was super excited to make it. I used 2.5m of high quality viscose from fabric land in Kingston, which was trickier to work with than other fabrics but is so soft and drapes so well that it was definitely worth the trouble of lining up the pattern pieces against the bias. I also took the option to insert belt loops and make a sash, which (once I sorted out initially making the loops far too small) I really like.

Floaty skirt perfect for jumping and being weird

There was a lot of sewing straight lines for long stretches, and it hemming it was quite a task (especially getting the tension right for multiple layers of such slippery fabric), but it took only an afternoon to make and was very satisfying to have something so lovely to wear by the end of the day. I'd like to make this again, possibly with pockets next time.

Perfect for a walk through town this sunny Liberation day!
