The wedding

Although I usually post my updates the day after they happened, a particularly busy day yesterday has set me back so I have combined 2 in 1! Wednesday did not have anything crazy to offer, except a totally unnecessary trip to browse at Ikea - but what am I saying, trips to Ikea are always necessary and crazy!
Anyone need any Hoes?

We were back in time for me to skype one of my closes friends from Maas, and then to help set out the tables for the wedding the next morning, enjoy a cozy dinner, and run through what the itinerary of the following day would be. All current guests were to have left before 11am, for the party to arrive for something to eat and drop off their bags at 11.30.

When the morning came around, I was put in  charge of helping guests with where to place their things, serving drinks, and generally being out to answer questions - this was fairly busy and intense although a great opportunity to practice speaking Dutch (in a polite and professional way) a lot so I was happy to do it!

After finishing all the drinks and rolls the wedding party went on for the ceremony at the city hall, and we cleaned before immediately beginning preparation with the elaborate 3 course dinner. Things were just about ready for their return at 4.45pm, where they began with a raspberry, mint, and vodka cocktail, partnered with a slice of spinach, mushroom, and cheese quiche.

To follow, once everyone was seated outside we served roast beef with mixed roast vegetables and rainbow potatoes. There were also 2 types of salads, one with romaine lettuce, purple carrots, edamame beans, hard cheese, radish, and mango dressing, the other mixed leaf with shredded mackerel, honey fried chorizo, and sliced apple - neither was vegan friendly, but garnished with wild flowers they looked undeniably lovely, and received high praise.

Dessert was Arretjescake, a Dutch biscuit loaf shaped cake made of chunks of biscuit set into chocolate - ours also contained walnuts and cranberries, and was served on a wooden plank sprinkled with sugar coated cranberries. By 7pm the group was done, and left to move on to the beach for a party, leaving us to finally have a seat, a beer, and as many leftovers as we could handle!

Drinks with the head chef and a group of her other friends at the Oerkap city beach, finished the night off perfectly. Hopefully there will be a post about vegan Arretjecake in the very near future...tot dan!
